The largest town in Warwickshire is Nuneaton and it is most famous for its connections to the 19th century writer, George Elliot. The author was born in the Arbury Estate and lived much of her early years in Nuneaton which she referred to as the town of Milby in the novel Scenes of a Clerical Life. Almost 80,000 residents live in Nuneaton and it sits on the banks of the River Anker. Coventry and Birmingham are both close by and are easy to reach on the good road systems around the town including the M6. Many people who reside in Nuneaton enjoy visiting the nearby villages and towns that are made up of Atherstone, Bedworth, Hinckley, Tamworth and Lutterworth.

One of the most well known landmarks in Nuneaton is Mount Jud and the hill provides panoramic views of the town and the surrounding areas from its location in the north west part of Nuneaton. The Parish Church of St Mary is often referred to as the Abbey Church and is another famous landmark in the town. The Ropewalk Shopping Centre is relatively new and it has successfully drawn keen shoppers in with its large collection of well known high street shops and stores as well as locally based shops. There is a large Indian population in Nuneaton and as such there is a mosque located on Frank Street. The M6, M42 and M69 are all close to Nuneaton and its railway is one of the most used in the whole of the UK. Nuneaton is well known for its football team and there are also three rugby teams in the town.
