Ware
A 14th century priory building that is a former friary is now the local council offices and the St Mary Church is located opposite the offices and is noted for its large stone carved figurines. Houses for rent in Ware vary in style and there is a good choice of old fashioned buildings and new flats for rent. Scott’s Grotto is the largest of its kind in the UK and it is home to many chambers that are situated in the chalky hillside. The walls of the chambers are covered in shells and stones as well as coloured glass and it attracts many visitors.
Hertford is nearby as is Hoddesdon and the annual Ware Festival attracts many to the region and grows in its popularity every year. The town is full of 18th century gazebos that stand along the riverside and Ware lays claim to being mentioned in both a Shakespeare play and the Canterbury Tales. The number one employer in Ware is GlaxoSmithKline as well as many smaller factories with lots of renters also choosing to travel further afield for their work.
